The Central Highlands is a region located in the south central part of Vietnam. This place is a plateau bordering the lower part of Laos and northeastern Cambodia. Coming to this land has always been my dream. Fortunately, last February I had the opportunity to visit the Central Highlands of Vietnam. And Below is my opinion about the best places to visit.
Da Lat – the most popular destination to visit in Central Highlands of Vietnam
About the incredible things to do in Dalat, I have written here. I hope it can help.
Da Lat is the capital of Lam Dong Province and the largest city in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. The city is located 1,500 m (4,900 ft) above sea level on the Langbian Plateau. Da Lat is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Vietnam.
Due to the influence of altitude and the surrounding pine forest, Da Lat has many characteristics of a temperate region. The average temperature is 18–21°C, the highest is never over 30°C and the lowest is not lower than 5°C. It is the pine forest of Da Lat that makes Da Lat cooler. Da Lat has two distinct seasons. Rainy season is from May to October, dry season is from November to April. Summer often rains in the afternoon, sometimes with hail. The average annual rainfall is 1562 mm and the humidity is 82%.
Da Lat never had storms. There is only strong winds due to the storm’s influence from the sea, because the eastern slopes are not covered by mountains.
Dubbed a tourist paradise, when coming to Da Lat, you will be completely immersed in the beautiful natural scenery.
The first thing that almost every Vietnamese people want to do when coming to Da Lat city is hunting clouds. This beautiful moment will give you memorable memories. Standing on the top of the mountain, watching each cloud drift by, immerse yourself in the peaceful, cool, and fuzzy space like you are lost in a fairyland.
Besides, Da Lat’s climate also contributes to making this place called the paradise of flowers in Vietnam by the Vietnamese. There are many flower gardens in Dalat that you can visit, depending on what season you come to Da Lat, such as wild sunflowers, hydrangeas, cherry blossoms…
Moreover, you can plan to conquer Lang Biang mountain to see the beautiful scenery of Dalat, small houses, successive hills, colorful flower gardens, etc.
Da Lat also has many cafes with all styles for you to sip a cup of coffee while enjoying the fresh air and beauty of Da Lat’s mountains and forests as well as freely taking virtual photos.
Buon Ma Thuot – the land with the greatest coffee in Central Highlands of Vietnam
Buon Ma Thuot is the capital city of Dak Lak Province in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. The city is the largest in Vietnam’s Central Highlands region, and is famous as the regional “capital of coffee”.
In Dak Lak, the climate is quite special, divided into two distinct regions. With the northern region, the dry season climate is hot and dry, while the southern and eastern regions have a relatively cool climate. Meanwhile, Buon Ma Thuot city is located in the south of the province, having both a plateau climate and a humid tropical monsoon climate.
The weather in Buon Ma Thuot is divided into the rainy season and the dry season. The rainy season starts from May to the end of October, the weather is wet and rainy. Therefore, it will greatly affect your visit.
The most ideal time to come to Buon Ma Thuot city is in the dry season, from October to April of the following year. At this time, the weather is constantly hot, accompanied by a humid tropical monsoon climate. The weather is dry and very suitable for you to experience many fun activities in the city. Especially, during the period of December, Buon Ma Thuot is in the blooming season of wild sunflowers. This is also the time when the Central Highlands begins to organize many festivals. If you want to immerse yourself in the bustling and colorful atmosphere of the Central Highlands festival, come to Buon Ma Thuot in December.
Coming to Buon Ma Thuot, you can visit the World Coffee Museum, enjoy coffee at Trung Nguyen Coffee Village, visit villages of ethnic minorities such as Buon Ako Dhong or Buon Don, enjoy majestic natural beauty of Dray Nur Waterfall.
Pleiku – the most beautiful lake and tea field
Pleiku is the capital of Gia lai Province in the Central Highlands of Vietnam.
Pleiku climate is tropical monsoon, so this highland has high humidity all year round. Rainy season and dry season are two typical climates of Gia Lai. If the rainy season usually lasts from May to October, the dry season starts from November and ends in April of the following year. Therefore, the long-term experience of Pleiku tourism shows that the best time to discover Pleiku eyes is in the dry season.
Regarding the scenic spots in Pleiku, first of all, the poetic and dreamy named T’Nung Lake is favored as “Pearl eye of the mountain town”. Located in the North of Pleiku city with beautiful natural landscape, T’Nung is honored to be recognized as one of the 5 most beautiful lakes in Vietnam.
You can also visit Chu Dang Ya Volcano standing in the middle of the mountains for many generations. A fertile, rich red basalt land adorned with colorful flowers and weeds.
Besides, Kon Ka Kinh Gia Lai National Park is a familiar destination for those who have experience in Pleiku tourism. This is not only an ideal eco-tourism destination but also a scientific research base because it is home to countless rare plants and animals that exist in Vietnam.
Usually, tourists will combine going to Buon Ma Thuot with Pleiku in a trip of about 04 days and 03 nights. Details about each location, schedule, way to go, I will write carefully in the following articles.
