In Vietnamese cuisine, Banh Mi is one of the most popular and the must-try food when traveling to Vietnam. This food has been consistently ranked as one of the world’s best sandwich.

Banh Mi was highly recommend by Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull or famous Chef Gordon Ramsey and Anthony Bourdain. You can watch his video of him eating Banh Mi here.

What is made of Banh Mi?

Banh Mi refers to a type of baguette which is often split lengthwise and filled with various savory ingredients as a sandwich and served as a meal. Plain Banh Mi is also eaten as a staple food. However, Banh Mi is absolutely not like a Western Burger.
The crust of Banh Mi is not very different from that of traditional bread of the West, but the inside is softer and smoother. After out of oven, the cake is sliced, added to the liver pate, sandwiched with meats, cucumbers, sour vegetables, coriander and chili sauce, full of Vietnamese flavor.
For street stalls, there are not too many options, while the larger stores will have a diverse menu such as grilled chicken, cheese, beef, pork, Turkish barbecue, meat bacon, eggs or vegetarian bread. If you want a holistic experience, you can order a Banh Mi including all of the above.

How popular Banh Mi is in Vietnamese daily life?

Banh Mi with full of nutrients can be used for breakfast, lunch or dinner. In Vietnamese cuisine, it is the dish associated with the breakfast of many Vietnamese students or the lunch of the officers who do not have much time to cook but still need full of nutrients.
To the international tourists, Banh Mi is the dish which has been fallen in love. There are many people who accept to wait in line for a long time with the desire and wish to enjoy this Vietnamese Banh Mi.
